Various Freelance Translation Assignments – 1996 to date
Full-time since October 2004. In addition to my translation work in connection with the positions mentioned below, I have completed various assignments which have included:

  • Fund fact sheets and manager commentaries

  • Press releases – Finance/Banking

  • Financial outlooks (for video voiceovers)

  • Marketing documents

  • Official documents such as birth certificates and passports

  • Theory driving test online program (translation and proof-reading)

GAM, London (Asset Management) – November 1999 to October 2004
Initially working for German portfolio manager, from November 2001 working as website manager. Responsibilities included:

  • Maintenance of company websites, both in English and German, including regular translation of new or changed content from English to German

  • Proofreading of monthly German and Spanish Fund Fact Sheets, Strategy Performance Fact Sheets and fund manager commentaries

  • Ad-hoc translations into German and Spanish, mostly for the Fact Sheets or marketing documents

  • Occasional translations of PowerPoint presentation content (mainly marketing) from English to German and Spanish

  • Organising mail shots in English and German

  • Translation of articles and fund prospectuses (mainly from German to English)

  • Liaising with Zurich office on regular basis (in German / Swiss-German)

Broadview International, London (Investment Banking) – September 1996 to November 1999
Working as team support to team of up to 6 people including MD. Responsibilities included:

  • Creating presentations and other marketing material using PowerPoint and Word (English and German)

  • Proof reading (English, German, French, Spanish)

  • Translation of presentations and other documentation (mainly English into German)

  • International client liaison in writing and by telephone (including Germany, Switzerland, Spain and France)

Orientalis Trading, London (Food Import/Export) – April 1994 to May 1995
Responsible for sales and marketing to EU countries. Responsibilities included:

  • Preparation of sales, marketing and export material, including regular translation into German, Spanish and French

  • Preparation of correspondence in German, Spanish, French and English

  • Compilation and maintenance of client database using my languages (Spanish, German, English and French) and computer skills

  • Exclusive point of contact for International Sales (main countries Germany, France, Spain)

  • Organising our presence at several international exhibitions, such as SIAL Food Expo in Paris and assisting visitors in their own languages

  • Diploma in Translation, Institute of Linguists (English to German) – November 1998

  • Diploma in Business & Commerce Studies, Swiss Federal School of Business (Kaufmännisches Fähigkeitszeugnis Schweizerische Eidgenossenschaft).

  • Certificate of Hispanic Studies, University of Granada, Spain (Certificado de Estudios Hispánicos)

  • Member of Institute of Linguists since May 1999
